I’m a former dancer having trained at the Patricia Veale School of dancing in York and the Northern Ballet School in Manchester. I danced professionally in London’s West End and internationally and I have held the roles of Dance Supervisor, Assistant Choreographer, Choreographer, Movement Director & Assistant Director throughout my 27-year career. I lead my own professional dance company DEL Dance Theatre, founded in 2014 in the city of York. My vision is to bring together talented local dancers, writers, and musicians etc to create smallscale theatrical performances, which pursue storytelling through dance, in a variety of settings, for young and family audiences. The company motto is DANCE, EDUCATION and LEARNING, (DEL) and we were recently successful in a Grants for the Arts bid from Arts Council England to develop a piece of dance theatre for children based around the musical suite Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saens.
With body conditioning and injury prevention a fundamental aspect of a long dance career I became a supporter of yoga as part of my dance training; this lead me to qualify as a yoga teacher with the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre in Austria in 2004 and subsequently become the Director & Founder of The Yoga Academy in York.
